On Jan. 17, 2016 the Catoctin Association of the United Church of Christ installed the Rev. Kyle Powderly as the new pastor of Church of the Holy Trinity, UCC in Halfway.

Pastor Kyle graduated from Millersville University in Lancaster, Pa., in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in communication. He continued to follow his call to serve God at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J., and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1999.

He was ordained into the Christian ministry on June 25, 2000.

Rev. Powderly is well known in the community, having served as treasurer (2008-09) and secretary (2011-14) of the Hagerstown Area Religious Council, and is a former pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown.

He served as the interim pastor of Church of the Holy Trinity, UCC from November 2014 through October 2015 and was a chaplain resident at Meritus Medical Center from July 2014 through July 2015.

Rev. Powderly was formally called to serve as the designated pastor of Church of the Holy Trinity UCC at a congregational meeting on Nov. 8, 2015.

Pastor Kyle and his wife, Kathy, who serves as the Executive Director of the Hagerstown Area Religious Council, live in Hagerstown.
